Greetings from the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy,
We’d like to invite you and your colleagues to a special session being designed for you as a member of
Connecticut’s government and leadership community. This program offers you the opportunity to know
more about the philanthropic sector and how philanthropy and government partner. Please see details
below.
The Connecticut Council for Philanthropy is a regional association of 119 philanthropic organizations.
Members of the Council granted more than $525 million in 2012 from assets of more than $4.3 billion to
support the public good in Connecticut and beyond.
We hope you will join us and get to know more about the work of the Connecticut Council for
Philanthropy and the field of philanthropy.

The Connecticut Council for Philanthropy invites you to
participate in a workshop led by Council President Maggie
Osborn that will provide an overview of the field of philanthropy.
The session will provide information about:
• the role of philanthropy in our communities, state and country
• key events in the development and diversification of the sector
• public policy and advocacy in the sector
• data, issues and trends in philanthropy
Participants will take away:
• knowledge about the history and current landscape of the
philanthropic sector and philanthropy in Connecticut
• materials and resources for reference and further exploration
