“Good News” Story about ~ Ministry ~ The First Christian Church in Paris begins each new year with an annual preaching and program theme. For over 20 years, this emphasis has provided teaching, structure, and a reminder of how we live and serve as God’s people. This annual theme is chosen by the minister in consultation with the elders. In the beginning the themes were topical, lately biblical, “Living By Faith” was the theme in 2013; the current theme is “Love One Another.” Each year’s emphasis is printed on bulletins, newsletters, bulletin boards, calendars, invitation cards, website, banners, especially a custom-made theme banner in the sanctuary. Every year begins with a Theme Sunday to set the tone for the year, and continues in September with a follow-up emphasis. This year’s theme has been used in a sermon series on the “one anothers” of the New Testament. It also functions as a natural conversation comment by church members with others in the community. According to Rev. Mike Dixon, “This emphasis helps to keep us - and me - fresh in our approach and aids in doing different things. And this bite-size teaching is both memorable and usable. It is such a natural part of our FCC culture now that we can’t imagine ministry without it!” A complete list of FCC themes is available upon request. Contact Person Rev. Michael C.
