Learning Design Document: A Proposal to Lodging Hospitality
Management
Document Description
The Design Document is a proposal for the
Lodging Hospitality Management project
sponsor and SMEs detailing the design plans for
the Building a Safe Workplace at LHM: Antiharassment Training module.
Purpose of the Course
Building a Safe Workplace at LHM: Antiharassment Training module is designed to
provide training to LHM management
employees to ensure their employees are
working in a safe environment. The training will
focus on providing the tools needed to identify,
resolve, and prevent potential harassment
situations in the workplace. This training will
not instruct learners to perform specific actions
but rather allow them to use learned concepts to
make informed decisions. At the end of the
training, learners will evaluate the effectiveness
of the course and how concepts learned can be
applied in the work environment.
Audience Description
The primary audience is employees who are
Supervisors, Managers, Directors, or General
Managers and have direct employee reports.
Some may have prior knowledge of antiharassment policy and guidelines; however,
prior knowledge is not a pre-requisite to the
training.
The primary audience is diverse in regards to
experience level, education, and age. All will
have management experience and some
exposure to anti-harassment policy and

procedure. All have a desire to increase their
knowledge to provide a safer work environment
for their employees.
Major Course
Objectives
After completing this training, the learner will
be able to:
 Identify potential harassment situations
 Resolve potential harassment situations
 Prevent potential harassment situations
Learning Assessment
Learners grasp of lesson concepts will be
assessed through a series of objective tests.
Instructional Strategies
The training will independent, self-paced elearning. The training will employ the following
methods to facilitate knowledge transfer:





Concept presentation
Concept question and answer exercises
Application presentation
Application question and answer exercises
Scenarios for practicing application of
new skills to solve a problem
 Interpretation of presented concepts
 Application of learned concepts to
workplace situations
The training will utilize the following media:





The training will take 45 minutes to complete.

Course Structure
Description
The training is module three of four in the
Building a Safe Workplace at LHM: AntiHarassment Training program. This module will
be divided into 8 lessons plus course reintroduction and review and summary lessons.
Additional features of the course include:

c. “The Sweater” - Group of
housekeepers repeatedly makes fun
of a fellow coworker for the way
her sweaters fit. They say her
sweaters are tight because of her
large chest and refer to her with
inappropriate language about her
body.
d. “The Photograph” - A manager
keeps a picture of his girlfriend in
very little clothing in a place where
the entire office can see. The other
guys in the office make sexual
comments about her for everyone
to hear, including some other
females who have expressed their
discontent about the photo.

Lisa Tucker of Lodging Hospitality Management
will develop the initial course as well as maintain
the course by providing all updates to course
content and assessment.
Development Time
The time frame for development of Building a
Safe Workplace at LHM: Anti-harassment
Training module will be the equivalent of two to
three concentrated weeks of time.
Support requirements
Lisa Tucker will require SME support from
LHM’s HR and Training staff for course content,
example harassment scenarios, and assessment
questions. Lisa will provide her own support on
e-learning lesson creative design.
