Scheme 2015-16

Terms and Conditions (Students commencing the first year of an undergraduate course at Cardiff Business School in 2015/16 only)

1. Eligibility Conditions

The student must;

Be eligible for UK ¹ student funding for living costs

Have accepted Cardiff as their firm choice by the 31 st of July 2015

Be registered on the first year of a full time undergraduate course at Cardiff

Business School by the 31 st of August 2015

Commence in year 1 of their program in 2015

Meet their offer criteria in full

Achieve a minimum award of 3 A grades ² at A level* or accepted equivalent qualifications ³ by the 31 st of August 2015

2. Value of Award

The value of the award i s £2000, half of which is paid in mid November and half in mid February by BACS payments.

3. Application Process

Eligible applicants are invited to email us CARBS-Scholarships@cardiff.ac.uk with evidence of their results by 31 st August 2015

Scholarships are awarded in early September and applicants will be notified by email by 31st September 2015

If a student has a non standard qualification which is not automatically notified to

UCAS, and believes they may be eligible for a scholarship, they should provide a copy of the transcript to CARBS Scholarships CARBS-Scholarships@cardiff.ac.uk

at Cardiff Business School by the 31 st of August 2015.

To receive a scholarship, students must accept the terms and conditions and provide bank details for payment.

4. Scholarship conditions

A student must be fully enrolled for the academic year before a payment can be made.

A student must still be in attendance at the payment date for an award to be paid.

All scholars will be required to have their name (and potentially photograph and profile) included in Cardiff Business School publicity material relating to the scholarship scheme.

5. Scholarship procedures

After the initial offer letter, communication concerning the scholarship will normally be via the student

’s Cardiff University e-mail.

Final decisions on offering or cancellation of scholarships will rest with Cardiff

Business School in consultation with the Head of Student Services.

Any queries or appeals concerning the scheme should be referred to Sheila King,

Bursary Office, Financial Support Service, Student Support Centre in the first instance.

6. Important Scholarship exemptions.

Any student who defers their application to 2016-17 will be considered under any schemes available at that time.

Students enrolling for a Joint Honours degree programme which is taught jointly with another Cardiff University school will be eligible for a half scholarship (£1000), paid in two instalments of £500 each, in mid November and mid February.

*A level General Studies, Critical Thinking and Citizenship are not considered.

Students offering Welsh Baccalaureate among their qualifications must achieve AA at A level to be eligible for a scholarship.

A student whose A level results are re-graded before the 31 st October 2015 can apply to be considered for a scholarship award by writing to bursariesandscholarships@cardiff.ac.uk

Re-graded results received by the

University after the 31 st October, 2015 will not be eligible for a scholarship award .

Triple Starred Distinction (D*D*D*). A minimum of 18 individual modules is required.
