Becht’s Bookshelf Volume 5, Issue 3 Who: Dan Gutman Author Visit! What: Virtual Author Visit When: Thursday, 5/14/15 Where: WES Auditorium This year, children’s author, Dan Gutman, will be visiting WES virtually using a live video chat format. Mr. Gutman was born in New York City, and later attended Rutgers University. After graduating college he started Video Games Magazine. Later, he became a free-lance writer and had columns published in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Science Digest, Newsweek, and USA Today. After his son was born Mr. Gutman decided to try his hand at fiction children’s books. He has been making kids laugh ever since! Some of his book include: My Weird School series, The Genius Files series, Ted & Me, and Jim & Me. Due to Mr. Gutman’s large fan-base, and national popularity we were unable to logistically schedule a face-to-face visit. However, we felt it would be an exciting new experience for students to be able to interact with such a big-name author even if done virtually. Check out http://www.dangutman.com/ to learn more about Mr. Gutman. Read Across America Telephone Location: Washington Elementary School Date: 2/27/2015 Author: Mac Barnett Welcome to Seussville!
