In keeping with Routt County’s commitment to a sustainable environment, Main Street
Steamboat Springs Farmers Markets are a Zero Waste Event. The goal of a Zero Waste Event
is that all discards are recyclable or compostable, so there is little to no waste. Our minimal
waste goal is simple to attain. The following is a guide to help you purchase the appropriate
compostable and recyclable food containers.

cups, etc. with no plastic coating. Waxed

the coating will scratch off with fingernail.

It is critical that you do not bring products made of Styrofoam or non‐recyclable plastic. We
also ask that you do not use personal consumption packets (like little ketchup packs) for
condiments. No wax lined containers. Please note that you will be asked to remove any
non‐recyclable or non‐compostable items from your salable products for the duration of the
season. There are many sources for compostable materials that can be purchased easily
including local vendors, such as Steve Green Company, US Foods and Sysco, and also
through Eco‐Products at www.biodegradablestore.com. Eco-products have nearly every
product you could possibly need, and multiple quantities available for each product. When
and where possible, buy local! All items used must meet the guidelines above, if you are
unsure of an item, have questions or would like a complete list of companies with order
numbers contact Zero Waste Coordinator Carol Lacey at zero@yvsc.org or (970) 819‐9398.
Thank you for your cooperation and please don't hesitate to contact me if you require
