WILLIAM W. FRIEDMAN CHAPTER LEADERSHIP AWARD 2015 Application Form PURPOSE: The William W. Friedman Chapter Leadership Award posthumously honors William W. Friedman, an advisor to Wheaton AZA in the early to mid 1960’s, whose work with BBYO youth promoted leadership to build strong AZA chapters and individual members. The award was first presented in 1967 to recognize leadership contributions within individual chapters. ELIGIBILITY: Application for the William W. Friedman Chapter Leadership Award is open to any member of BBYO who is completing his/her junior or senior year in high school. Applicants must have exhibited those qualities which promote the ideals of BBYO and leadership on the chapter level. Award: Will be given at the annual awards night ceremony and will include a donation to BBYO in the teens honor towards D.C. Council scholarship. TO THE APPLICANT: Please type your answers to these questions on separate paper. Remember, we can only judge your qualifications by the information you provide! Your name and chapter should only be listed on page 3 to preserve anonymity. The answers should be typed on separate paper in either Arial or Times New Roman font. Applications are due to Regional Director Jonah Potasznik in the D.C. Council office by Friday, May 15th. If membership has not been continuous, show dates for active periods and explain reasons for lack of continuity. What year do you anticipate graduating from high school? 2. In 100 words or less, define leadership and its importance to the chapter. 3. What committee(s) have you served on in your chapter? Indicate whether you volunteered for the committee(s) or were appointed to the committee(s) and the date(s) of your service on the committee(s). Please list committee memberships chronologically. What contributions did you make as a member of each committee? 4. What committee chairmanship(s) have you held in your chapter? Indicate whether you volunteered for the committee chairmanship(s) or were appointed to the committee chairmanship(s) and the date of your service as committee chairman. Please list committee chairmanship(s) chronologically. What was accomplished under your committee chairmanship(s)? 5. What elected offices have you held in your chapter? Indicate whether you volunteered for the office or were nominated by someone else and the dates of your service in the office. Please list offices held chronologically. What was accomplished as a result of your holding these offices? 6. If you progressed to another leadership level (i.e. Council), identify the specific leadership roles and responsibilities you assumed. Did you volunteer for these roles or were you elected?
