Here are some referrals for possible help during the holidays. These are only a few of the resources we
have in our community. If you know of any others, please let us know so we can add them to our list.
Salvation Army
Provide the following services to those who qualify:

PEN provides referrals to shelters and other items for those in need. For those

Catholic Ladies Relief Society Chico Community Food Locker
Provides food (four times a year), helps with prescription medication, gas for transportation, and bus
tickets.

American Red Cross
Provide the following disaster services for victims of floods and fires: shelter, food,
clothing assistance, mental health counseling, and welfare inquiring.

Wings of Eagles
Financial assistance is provided to families who have a seriously ill child with a life
threatening illness. There is a preference for families who have a child with cancer.
Assist up to 5 CSUC students a year, who have been diagnosed with cancer. Students must be 25 years
of age or younger.

Oroville Rescue Mission
Food box distribution Monday-Wednesday 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. The requirements for those wanting to
receive food boxes include the following: proof of residence, proof of income, and Medi-Cal cards, birth
certificates or picture ID for each family member. Shelter can also be provided which includes food,
showers, and beds, if there is space available and if qualifications are met. There are no in and out
privileges, and no smoking or drugs allowed in the shelter. The check-in hours are:
4:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday

Chico Community Shelter Partnership – Torres Shelter
Hours of operations are 2:00 p.m.-8:00 a.m. Transportation is provided from the Jesus Center to the
shelter Monday-Saturday at 4:00. Transportation is provided on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. from the
Salvation Army.

Family Resource Center in Paradise
Provide resources for families living in the Paradise/Magalia area. Families must call and schedule an
intake assessment of their needs. The types of services and programs that families may be linked to are:
