These responsibilities include: monitoring the daily/weekly progress of participants to ensure program compliance; ensuring program forms are completed in an efficient manner; facilitating academic and professional development workshops and programs; serving as a goodwill ambassador and disseminating information about program throughout the university community; serving as a liaison to parents; maintaining the CSS website; identifying professional and career opportunities for Scholars. Establishing and implementing short and long range advising strategies to exceed target goals; assisting students in achieving academic excellence and degree requirements at the University of Maryland; assisting in UNIV 100 course; supervising undergraduate team leaders; advising the CSS Executive Board; working collaboratively with the Director to advance programmatic effectiveness, innovation, and visibility, and other related duties as assigned by the Director of the Office of Multi-ethnic Student Education, UMD. This Graduate Assistantship will require weekly evening coverage and occasional weekend work. Research. Additionally, this position will conduct research concerning the best practices, national trends, and new findings concerning the matriculation, retention, motivation, and graduation of undergraduate men of color. College Success Scholars. CSS is a program for Black and Latino males from pre-freshman year through senior year, which provides structured personal, academic and professional support to ensure retention, proactive engagement in internships, education abroad, research and all aspects of the University community. The curriculum is centered on supporting the brilliance of the scholars and developing resiliency, agency, purpose and brotherhood. Scholars are expected to always strive for personal, academic and professional excellence. Qualifications: The successful candidate must have experience working with an academic support program and a wide range of racial/ethnic groups as well as other underrepresented male populations. A successful candidate must be an astute researcher with familiarity of data collection, analysis, academic writing, and editing. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral skills are essential. Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred); Demonstrated history in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Database Management competencies.
