BLAENAU GWENT COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL
COUNCILLORS ANNUAL REPORT
This is the report by the Councillor named below regarding their key
activities over the year ending 30th April 2015. It is provided for the
information of all constituents and for no other purpose.

Section 1 – Roles and Responsibilities
Attend Council Meetings

Duties as Mayoress – support for Mayor until May 2015.
Attend Labour Group Meetings
Represent BGCBC & Community Health Council, Cwmbran.
School Governor Ebbw Fawr Learning Community.
Member of the Royal British Legion
Extended sickness leave due to Cardiac Surgery.

Section 2: Constituency Activity
To liaise with constituents re Health issues and outcomes concerning
community Health Council.
To attend meetings within constituency, eg Tenants and Residents Meetings
etc.
Liaison with officers and other members of the Council on behalf of
constituents re e.g. Environment & Regeneration issues.
Liaison with police force on behalf of problems experienced by constituents
e.g. Anti Social Behaviour, parking etc.
Liaison with Offices and Members f Social Services etc, re problematic issues
for constituents e.g. care in the Community, Mobility, social activities.
Liaison with Tai Calon Board for constituents re housing problems
environmental issues etc. Liaison with officers re sporting activities for
constituents e.g. Life Leisure and sports facilities.

Attended Training sessions associated with the role of school Governor re –
role of the governor, safeguarding etc.
Section 5: Initiatives, Special Activities and Issues
I have four grandchildren of school age, I take a keen interest in the Standard
of Education within the Borough and follow progress of our schools with a
keen interest. I myself participate in the game of lawn bowls both indoors and
out, I am keen to protect our leisure facilities for all ages.
I am a member of the Royal British Legion, I attend meetings whenever I can
and always support the Poppy appeal by selling poppies, jewellery. Bags etc
in October/November. I attend and support functions arranged by the older
generation parties, celebrations etc and support young children by attending
local pantomimes and shows.
