On joint motion of all Councilmembers present, the following resolution was
offered:
RESOLUTION NO. 123102
A resolution ratifying an Intergovernmental Agreement with
the Town of Jean Lafitte to accept Tiger Tubes, straps and
anchors from the Town of Jean Lafitte to aid in the flood
protection of Jefferson Parish. (Parishwide)
WHEREAS, Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte wish to coordinate to
increase flood control initiatives and cooperation in order to protect and serve the
residents of Jefferson Parish by providing a number of Tiger Tubes, straps and anchors;
and
WHEREAS, due to flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee on September 2, 2011
in the Town of Jean Lafitte, particularly along Bayou Barataria, the Town of Jean Lafitte
purchased the straps and anchors to install and secure Tiger Tubes owned by Jefferson
Parish to prevent water damage; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 119267 adopted on July 25, 2012,
Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte entered into a Cooperative Endeavor
Agreement dated the 17th day of September, 2012 for Jefferson Parish to provide
funding for the straps and anchors purchased by the Town of Jean Lafitte to install and
secure Tiger Tubes owned by Jefferson Parish along Bayou Barataria; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Jean Lafitte wishes to enter into an Intergovernmental
Agreement with Jefferson Parish to provide the Tiger Tubes, straps and anchors for
flood protection of Jefferson Parish;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Jefferson Parish Council of
Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, acting as governing authority of said Parish:
SECTION 1. That the Council does hereby ratify the Intergovernmental
Agreement with the Town of Jean Lafitte to accept Tiger Tubes, straps and anchors
from the Town of Jean Lafitte to aid in the flood protection of Jefferson Parish.
SECTION 2. That the Council Chairman or in his absence the Vice Chairman is
authorized to execute any and all documents necessary to make this resolution
effective.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was
as follows:
