De-extinction Debate
Before tomorrow’s debate take some time to research de-extinction on the internet. Use
reputable sources (not Wikipedia. National Geographic would be an example of a good place to
start) to form you opinion. Fill in the worksheet below with the strongest pieces of evidence you
could find in preparation.
Some questions to consider:


Should we try and bring back certain extinct animals only (i.e. those that went extinct
only very recently or by human actions)?
Would an animal brought back from extinction be the same as before? (for example, we
do not have complete genomes of all extinct animals so modern animal DNA would have
to be used as a substitute for missing pieces)
