Act I

Opening Street Scene-“Here We Come-a-Caroling” – Start from the back all but the quartet on stage

Jean, Leah, Alicia, Savanna

Lisa, Shannon, Erin, Erika

Tom, Gary, Mitchell, Chuck

Sing verse 1 until the 2 nd “…and God send…” FREEZE

Cue – Narrator: …far be it from me to change the expression, or the country’s done for.

Finish the end of verse 1. Go right into verse 2. At the end of verse 2, FREEZE.

Cue – Narrator: …but he answered to both names. It was all the same to him.

Sing verse 3 and process up the aisle to the stage…stopping in the corners.

At the start of verse 4, stage left cross in front of stage 1st, followed by stage right. Exit down aisle.

Scene 1 (middle, after Jeeves and Howell) – “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen”

Cue – Scrooge (to Bob Cratchit): You’ll want all day tomorrow, I suppose?

Start oo-ing from the back

Cue – Tiny Tim (to Bob Cratchit): Hoorah for Christmas!

Process up aisle and sing verse 1. Then oo back down the aisle and out.

Scene 3 (end) – “Adeste Fidelis”

Cue – Christmas Past: Bear but a touch of my hand there, and you shall be upheld in more than this.

Process up aisle and sing one verse in Latin. Then exit.

Scene 4 (end) – “Deck the Hall”

Cue – Christmas Past: Come, let us see another Christmas.

Process up aisle and sing as many verses as necessary for scene change (probably two). Then exit.

Scene 5 (end) – “Good Christian Men Rejoice”

Cue – Scrooge: No. No. I should like to be able to say a word or two to my clerk just now. That’s all.

Christmas Past: Come, Ebenezer. My time grows short.

From the back, oo one verse. Then exit.

Scene 6 (end) – “Silent Night”

Cue - Christmas Past: That they are what they are, do not blame me.

Scrooge: Remove me! I cannot bear it! Leave me! Take me back and haunt me no longer.

Process up aisle and sing one verse.

Scene 7 (end) – “I Saw Three Ships”

Cue – Scrooge: Where, pray tell, are we going?

Christmas Present: You will see!

Process up aisle singing verse 1. Stage left cross in front of stage 1st, followed by stage right during verse 2.

Exit down aisle while oo-ing verse 3.

Scene 8 (end of Act I) – “Hark, the Herald Angles Sing”

Cue – Tiny Tim: A Christmas carol!

Mrs. Cratchit: What shall we sing?

Tiny Tim: Hark, the Herald Angles Sing

Process up the aisle to the stage…stopping in the corners. Remain until lights go up.

Act II

Scene 1 (beginning) – “Good King Wenceslas”

Tom, Gary, Mitchell, Chuck

Cue – Lights up

Start from the front of the stage. Sing verse 1. At the start of verse 2, exit down the aisle.

Scene 1 (Ignorance and Want) – “Coventry Carol”

Cue – Scrooge: …However, in view of the general gaiety of the occasion, I am inclined to overlook it.

Christmas Present: That is quite noble of you!

From the back, oo one verse. Then exit.

Scene 2 (end) – “Carol of the Bells”

Cue – Scrooge: I demand to be shown some tenderness connected with a death.

Lightning, thunder

Process up aisle. Sing verse one, fading out near the middle. Watch for cue. Then exit.

Scene 3 (end) – “What Child Is This?”

Tom, Mitchell

Cue – Mrs. Cratchit: …we shall not quarrel among ourselves, and forget our little Tim in doing it.

Cratchit Children: No…we won’t, Mother! Never!

From the back, oo one verse then exit.

Scene 4 (end) – “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”

Cue - Scrooge: Oh, tell me that I may sponge away the writing on this stone!

Lightning, thunder, chimes

From the back, sing first half of first verse. Stop.

Cue – Scrooge: A Merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to al the world! Ha ha ha!

Process up aisle. Sing verse one in its entirety. Then exit.

Scene 6 (end) – “Sussex Carol”

Tom, Mitchell

Cue – Scrooge: I’m much obliged to you. I thank you fifty times. Bless you both, and a Merry Christmas!

From the back, sing verse one.

Scene 7 (end) – “Caroling, Caroling”

Jean, Leah, Christa, Savanna

Lisa, Shannon, Erin, Erika

Aaron, Isaac

Tom, Gary, Mitchell, Chuck

Cue – Scrooge: And so we are, Fred, and so we shall be. So we shall be.

Process up aisle. Sing verse one. Then Exit.

Cue – Scrooge: We will discuss the particulars over a bowl of smoking bishop before you so much as dot another I, Bob Cratchit!

Process up aisle. Sing verse two as the entire cast fills the stage.

Final Scene – “Hark, the Herald Angles Sing”

Full Cast

While the stage is filling, Narrator will do her line, and CAST WILL FREEZE ON “And to Tiny Tim, who did

NOT die, he was a second father.”; Cratchits must be center stage for this freeze.

Narrator continues, “He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew.” (Narrator pause) CAST WILL SWITCH TO A NEW FREEZE POSE. Scrooge and Tiny Tim must be front/center of thrust at this point.

Narrator continues during freeze. “And ever afterward, it was always said of Ebenezer Scrooge that he knew ow to keep Christmas, and keep it well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge.” CAST WILL

UNFREEZE on “KNOWLEDGE”, AND CONTINUE TO MILL AROUND THE STREET, while Narrator finishes out line.

Scrooge picks up Tiny Tim….until final line of “God Bless us, Everyone”…play to ALL audiences!! FACE OUT!

Carolers/cast immediately sings Hark the Herald. Scrooge sets down Tiny Tim and leads “Curtain

Call/Bow.” Then, cast exits as carolers sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas, followed by carolers.
