TeamMates Mentoring Program Attends Creighton Basketball game and Rock n Racquets Tennis Event The Missouri Valley TeamMates Mentoring Program has had an eventful two months. On Sunday, November 14th, the Missouri Valley Program joined hundreds of other TeamMates students from across Nebraska and Iowa at the annual TeamMates Day at a Creighton Basketball Game. Missouri Valley TeamMates had close to 50 mentors and mentees in attendance at the game. This year marks the third year that Missouri Valley TeamMates has attended this event. In addition to the Creighton game, mentees and mentors from the Missouri Valley Chapter attended the Rock n Racquets Tennis Charity Event on Friday, December 17th. The Missouri Valley Chapter was given 50 tickets to the event. The event featured tennis stars: Sam Querrey, Pete Sampras, Bob and Mike Bryan, and Warren Buffett. The Bryan Brothers band also performed during the event. Many of the Missouri Valley youth had not been to a live tennis match prior to this event. Missouri Valley TeamMates was also a recent recipiant of a $2,000 grant through the Harrison County Community Foundation Field of Interest Fund. The grant money was used to update the mentor/mentee resource library availble to all TeamMates matches. The program was able to purchase two iPads, two digital cameras, and numerous new board games to be used during weekly meetings with mentees. The TeamMates mentees are able to use the iPads for school projects and assignments as well.
