Launching The Personal Project: The Project Proposal The first step in beginning a Personal Project is for you to write a formal proposal letting your supervisor know what it is that you’re interested in pursuing. Your supervisor will review this proposal with you at your first meeting on October 21st. The proposal has several parts: You and your interests: Name and Student ID number What topic you will pursue Why you’re interested in that topic Your project and its goal What is the goal of your project? Be as specific as you can at this stage. Which Global Context will help focus your project? Choose one. How will that Global Context help you to focus your project? Refer to the descriptions in the chart on the back. How will you know that your project has been successful? Think about how you might measure your success in meeting your goal. What might the final product look like? Consider how you will present your project in the end. This will most likely change significantly as you begin to work. Project Resources and Research What resources do you anticipate needing? Consider both people and things you will need. What information will you gather from research? If it doesn’t require some research (broadly defined) it’s not a Personal Project. It’s a hobby. IMPORTANT DETAILS You must be logged in on your school Google account to see the form. You need to join the Google Classroom for this course. Go to classroom.google.com and enter the class code: You will be filling out the proposal on the school website. If you would like to write your proposal in a Google Drive document FIRST and then copy and paste the information onto the website, you may do so. If you don’t think that you will have time to finish your proposal today, you should write in the Google Drive document. If you aren’t sure what you want to do, you must see Ms. Clarkson this week. Click the button to “Send me a copy of my response”. Don’t forget to click “Submit” at the bottom of the form. PLEASE NOTE All project proposals must be complete by October 9th. It is okay to propose a project that is different from the one that you originally identified in spring. The most important thing is that you choose something you like and are willing to dedicate time to over the next few months.
