Was the training program relevant and useful to you? Would you recommend the training program to your colleagues? Do you see a need for further Training Programs on this topic? Average 4.91 4.73 4.64 4.73 4.73 Please note any topics you feel should be further addressed in any future programs: The link between risk culture and risk appetite In my opinion, the topics are comprehensive enough. For future workshops, it would be a good idea for participants (on voluntary basis) to prepare in advance presentations about how the issues are handled in their countries. Guidelines to implement risk appetite framework and risk culture on an emerging market bank. Maybe a complementary focus on other industries could be useful. Maybe the program could include something about the process of risk control. Thank you. Perhaps sharing good and bad RAS, as well as the process. The process would be good to reinforce understanding. The differences of ideas between regulators and banks. Adopting RAS in real world with many examples in different countries/continents. 6. Were the presenters clear and understandable? 4.73 Please elaborate or comment about specific presenters: I’m interested in the presentation of Mark Lawrence. The presentation is easy to understand with the case study specific. All experts/speakers are commendable. All presentations were clear and understandable. Their expertise in the topics of the workshops was evident. I want to make special mention to Mark Lawrence who was an excellent presenter making the learning process enjoyable. Mark Lawrence-brilliant; Laura Ard-excellent; Geof Mortlock-clear Mr Luo Ping is interesting in introducing the practice in China. Ken Waller did a great job. Special mention to Laura Ard and Mark Lawrence – they were so clear and delivered practical elements that can be applied in our country. Yes, Mark was able to articulate his thinking well and out of the box. Laura’s experiences that she shared during the workshops were spectacular. Geoffrey valuable experiences were articulated clearly that definitely has enlightened me with some good take-away. All the presenters are with rich in knowledge and experiences. And they are very open and willing to share the views with participants and always provided very helpful ideas. 4.55 7. Were the participant commentary discussions useful/relevant? Please elaborate or comment about these participant commentary discussions: The link between risk culture and risk appetite. It helped me better understand the practices of other countries which cannot be learned from printed materials. The size of the group contributed to a dynamic participation of participants. The facilitated workshop is a great idea. Mark Lawrence: the importance of communication in organizations re: risk culture. Through the commentaries we learned more about the supervisors’ practices in different countries. It is very helpful for me to get better understanding about the latest developments in different countries. The comments from the participants are interesting in order to see the different situations in other places. 8. Was the opportunity to meet colleagues from other 4.73 economies beneficial to you? 9. Were the group presentations useful / relevant? 4.73 Please elaborate or comment about the group presentations: The group presentation is helpful to everyone to better understand risk appetite in each country, in specific form. Very very useful and relevant. The exchange of ideas towards the common goal of each group and even disagreements and controversies raised are stepping stones towards a more effective performance on our part as supervisors. Group presentations were great. Continue with this dynamics. I had the opportunity of having Mr. Geof Mortlock as our group facilitator – he was a great facilitator. The supervisor should have a good knowledge to implement the risk appetite. A great opportunity to share different experiences from other jurisdictions. The group presentations on risk appetite framework/key elements of risk appetite statements are clear. More time should be allocated to allow for a more meaningful, thoughtful and deliberated conclusions. The brainstorming created a lot of sparkles and solutions. Also it enhanced the spirit of teamwork. From the group presentations, I am able to know the various ideas I can adopt. 10.Were the panel sessions useful to you? 4.82 Please elaborate or comment about the panel sessions: Having the panel set-up with a very able moderator is one rewarding experience for me in view of the multi-directional flow of ideas and opinions. This is very enriching. It was interesting to listen to the presenters discussing their topics. The members of panel sessions showed good knowledge of the topics. All the panelists were very clear with wide knowledge of the topics covered. They shared their own ideas. The question asked during the panel sessions led us to think more about the details. Allowed me to see the different views of the panelists and that enriched the discussions. Some speakers were rather monotonous in delivering good points. Perhaps the organizers may want to address that part so as to keep/capture and sustain the attention of the audience. The sessions made us share more practices of developing countries. From the panel sessions, the wide vision of experienced people is very useful to me. 11.How would you rate the overall administration of the program (accommodation, support, logistics, etc)? 4.82 Please elaborate or comment about the administration support: My greatest gratitude to the organizers/sponsors. Besides the administration which was great, more integration events should be considered in future workshops to strengthen relationship amongst participants and presenters. A good example was the Wednesday’s dinner. Overall administration was good, the arrangements for the trip, the accommodations, etc. A little care about the food for occidental people would be appreciated. The program gave comprehensive support. It is a great job. Thank you. Li Ying was super efficient!!! The administration support is friendly and highly efficient. The accommodation is nice and clean but a little bit far from the city center. 12.Please indicate specific ways in which you feel the training program could be improved or made more relevant to you or your colleagues: It is better if we have more case study and discussion. Very very relevant already. It could be improved by sending the pre-reading materials earlier. In this occasion, we received the materials 2 days before the flight to Shanghai. One week advance is enough time. The specific elements for implementing the risk appetite supervision. More participants could be useful. Maybe the training program could share more success and failed cases. Include analysis of how to address smaller organizations. Perhaps the mix of participants attending the program could be given due attention. Organizers may want to ensure sufficient blend of participants from agencies considered to be advanced to enable knowledge tapping. Could have more case studies and discussions. Right now it is good. 13.How has the program assisted or enhanced your understanding of the issues that were covered, and how will you implement this knowledge when you get home? In the case of firms, RA is rationale and I understand better the RA. In the case of regulation, RA is equally necessary. To include in my report to our Central Bank’s Training Institute to relay to the head of our Supervision and Examination Sector the importance of studying further or looking into the concepts of risk appetite and culture to be able to determine the need to (a) incorporate the same in our new training framework, (b) cover the key concepts in Supervision Guidelines for the on-site examiners and off-site central point of contact officers; To conduct echo seminar/briefing; To submit copies of the handouts and reading material to our Training Institute for inclusion in our library for reference of the organization. Risk appetite is a new world for me. All the learning will be helpful. Back home, I will propose some ideas to review if this could be applied in Mexico. I will a report to my boss about the topics discussed in the program and I will stress the importance of risk appetite framework and the risk culture. I will apply it on my analysis and reports of companies’ risk management system. I will share the principle and documents with colleagues. The program increased by knowledge about the topics. I believe that on-site audits should incorporate these topics and incorporate the discussion about how to determine their RAS as monitored. Also promote discussions about this. The content, effective articulation of the content has contributed to good understanding. I would definitely volunteer myself to be in the project team for us to start on RAS. The program has provided a lot of useful information for me to digest. I would like to share them with my colleagues when I go back to the office. With the clear explanation and lots of examples, I can adopt some to use in my job.
