awarded. This week’s winners were Tashiana Clayton and Katie Banta. If you would like to
win a prize, you should turn in your Membership Form and $5 to your advisory teacher by this
Friday to be eligible for the final drawing held next Monday on the Elk News. There will be two
lucky winners Monday and one grand prize winner will be announced at the PTSA meeting that
same night, October 1st (you do not have to be present to win). We encourage all students to become
members of the PTSA so your voice can be heard and so you can make a difference at Elkhorn
Middle School. There are a lot of exciting opportunities coming up for student members of the
PTSA. Why don’t you join the PTSA so you can be a part of all we have to offer the students of
Elkhorn Middle School?

Literacy Night
Elkhorn Middle School will host their annual Literacy Night on October 3 rd from 5:30 to
7pm. This year’s theme will be “The Hunger Games”. In order to have a successful event, we
are requesting some PTSA parent volunteers and donations. We need at least six volunteers to
man the various tables and some snack food donations. We are looking for snack items that
match the theme for the night to fill the gift bags that will be distributed that evening. So, think
“SURVIVAL” and let us know what snacks you would be willing to donate. Please e-mail
emsptsanews@gmail.com if you are willing to donate your time or some snacks for Literacy
Night.

If You Visit EMS During the School Day
For security reasons, if you need to visit Elkhorn Middle School during the school day, you may
only enter the building through the office entrance. Three visitor parking spaces have been set
aside for your use. Please don’t park in front of the building entrance. Parents are reminded
that this is a fire lane. In addition, cars that park there – no matter how temporarily – may
block traffic due to the narrow design of our parking lot. Parents are also encouraged to park in
“real” parking spaces during school events. There have been accidents involving cars that
parked along the back wall of our parking lot. Cars backing out of “real” parking spaces didn’t
have adequate room to exit. Remember to use caution at all times.
BoxTops
Our first BoxTops drive will be held in October. Please remember that collecting and turning in
those BoxTops is an easy money maker for the school!!!
