About Winter Walden
Learning to ski or snowboard is an exciting adventure, one that combines the kind of emotional and physical
experiences that promote balanced growth in children. Since 1975 the Winter Walden method has given young
students a sense of accomplishment as they move through the various levels of the American Teaching System
and the Snowboard Teaching System.
Children in the Winter Walden Ski and Snowboard Club are placed in small classes according to their ability, with
a qualified instructor who is trained to show that skiing and snowboarding can be fun, regardless of the level.
Students are evaluated in every class and advance to the next level as soon as they are ready. Learning to ski and
snowboard with the Winter Walden method is "learning by doing." The fundamentals of skiing and
snowboarding are taught with many fun exercises and games on the snow, while never losing sight of the
program's main goal—helping young people to ski and snowboard well.

Okemos Community Education Winter Walden Program
We are excited to offer membership in the Winter Walden Ski/Snowbaord club to children and teens in the
Greater Lansing area! Young children will have the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard, and teens will have
the opportunity to improve their skills and ski or snowboard with friends. Okemos school busses will provide
transportation to and from the scheduled ski resort (Mt Brighton/Mt Holly/Pine Knob), with local coordinators
and supervisors to ensure each child makes it back to Okemos safely. Participants do not need to be in the
Okemos school district to attend. Bus departs from Meridian Township office parking lot. Parents are welcome
to accompany young children, but are never required.
Details
The program starts December 12th, but you may join any time. All participants must pay the nonrefundable registration fee to Okemos Community Education by mail, in person, or online at
www.okemosonline.com. Registered members will receive an email survey every Tuesday requesting a
reply by Thursday, whether they will be attending Saturday’s skiing/snowboarding trip. See the resort
schedule at http://www.winterwalden.com/schedule.html - No trip December 19th and 26th and January 2nd.
For those attending the ski trip, Winter Walden coordinators and supervisors will meet you at the
Meridian Township Building Parking lot at 5151 Marsh Rd (location of Meridian Farmer’s Market), to
help load skis/snowboards onto the bus. The bus leaves promptly at 8:00am for trips to Mt Holly and
Pine Knob, and 8:20 am for Mt Brighton. Parents should be present for the return of the bus by 4:40
pm in the same location.
