JUDGING CRITERIA
The judges will score in each of the categories below. Each category has a different weight to the total
score. The weight of the given category is represented in its maximum points allowed i.e. execution with a
total 10 point maximum is the most weighted score. Each score is counted; no score is thrown out for
averaging purposes. The team with the highest total score wins! Winner takes all. Below is an explanation of
each judging criteria. The judge’s scores are final.
Execution (Maximum 10 points):
This score will be based on smooth transitions during formation changes; overall synchronization of the
group; and execution of dance elements. This score will be used as the secondary tie breaker.
Originality and Style (Maximum 10 points):
This score will be based on the originality of the choreography. Judges will base their score on the originality
of dance moves and transitions.

Difficulty (Maximum 10 points):
This score will be based on the execution of moves, within the routine, that carry a difficult characteristic or
element, back flips, lifts, B Boy/B Boy elements, original choreography to music changes, etc.

Overall Crowd Appeal (Maximum 50 points):
This score involves the interaction of the routine with the audience. This score is a measure of sound levels
for audience appreciation.

Appearance (Maximum 10 points):
Although there is no costume requirement, the score will reflect the attire worn during the performance and
its incorporation to the music and style of the routine.

Bonus (Maximum 10 points):
This score will be used to award points for criteria not categorized above and it will represent the judges’
sole appreciation of the total routine. This score will also be used as the primary tie-breaker.
