Data as of 15:00 June 15, 2014
1. Typhoon Summary (Data source: Central Weather Bureau)
A sea warning was issued for weak Typhoon Hagibis at 23:30 on June 14, 2014;at 14:30 on June 15, the
center was over the sea around 250 kilometers southwest of Kinmen at 22.8 degrees north latitude and 116.7
degrees east longitude; the radius of the Force 7 storm was 100 kilometers and it was moving at 13 kmh
northwards. The latest data shows that the typhoon center is over the sea off Guangdong and is continuing to
move north, threatening the Taiwan Straits. It is predicted that this typhoon will weaken over time but ships
in the Taiwan Straits and the Dongsha Atoll area should be on guard. Under the effect of the circulating
currents in the periphery of the typhoon, today (15th) the southeast of Taiwan (including Lanyu and Green
Island) and the south will have a good chance of heavy or very heavy rain in places; in central eastern
Taiwan, Kinmen and Penghu there is a good chance of heavy rain, and care needs to be taken with regards to
sudden heavy rain, lightning and strong gusts of wind; the west of Taiwan, (including Little Liuqiu), the east
(including Lanyu and Green Island), Kinmen and Penghu will see large waves and fairly strong gusts of
wind, so care should be taken near the seashore, and the aquaculture industry should also take precautions.
