TECHNICAL QUALIFICATION IN AREAS OF THE SOLIMÕES BASIN
The Basins of Solimões and Amazonas are located in the Northern Region, in the so-called
Brazilian Amazon, together covering the states of Amazonas, Pará, Acre, Roraima and
Rondônia. Their geographical location is one difficult access for the development and execution
of the geological and geophysical activities with prospective purposes for hydrocarbons and
mineral substances having, as a consequence, higher exploratory costs when compared to
those of other onshore Basins.
Whereas: (I) the similarity of the geological aspects of the Basins of Solimões and Amazonas;
(ii) the similarity of their geographical location, areas of difficult access, (iii) the similarity of the
costs for the drilling of exploratory wells in the region; and (iv) the qualifying requirements for
the Amazonas Basin of the Bidding Notice of the Tenth Round of Biddings, companies must
obtain qualification as "B" Operators to also act in areas of the Basin of Solimões.
