Goucher College and Anne Arundel County Public
Schools (AACPS) are expanding their existing partnership to offer a reading cohort designed for early childhood teachers. Developed for teachers in grades
PreK-3, the Early Literacy Cohort allows participants to investigate strategies and assessments specifically for the young emerging reader as well as specialized techniques for those who struggle in the learning-to-read process.
This cohort is a part of Goucher College’s MSDE approved
Reading Specialist certification program. Participants can choose to take only the 15 credits in the cohort to gain additional knowledge and perspectives on the young reader. However, those who wish to continue course work to earn reading specialist certification can use these courses in an M.Ed in Reading Instruction or for a
Professional Development Certificate (PDC) in Reading
Instruction for those who already hold an earned master’s degree.
