Reading Coordinator/Instructional Coach

Assessment


Administer placement, diagnostic, benchmarking and progress monitoring
measures
Coordinate related assessment schedules
Communication



Maintain regular and ongoing communication with building principal(s)
Maintain regular and ongoing communication with teachers, teacher assistants,
and other staff
Respond to parent questions regarding student strengths and needs as well as
program components
Data Management & Analysis






Analyze program and student data
Coordinate benchmarking and progress monitoring schedules
Manage DIBELS website
Meet regularly with grade level teachers to view student data and make
decisions regarding placement, progress, changes of program, etc.
Meet with teachers to discuss student and group progress
Train teachers to interpret reports available from data management system
Interventions





Communicate regularly with teachers and interventionists
Coordinate classroom and intervention schedules
Match intervention received to deficit area
Prepare materials for intervention delivery
Provide/coordinate staff development specific to interventions
Materials Management


Inventory teacher and student materials annually
Make materials readily available for staff

Prepare purchase orders for core reading and intervention materials
Placement






Conduct placement testing annually for all Kindergarten students (reading and
language), students receiving special education services, and students new to
the district upon their arrival
Consult with teachers regarding continued placement of students currently in
program
Consult with teachers regarding altering placement of students as needed
Develop and assign appropriate instructional groups (reading and language)
based upon placement test results, results of screening measures, and current
and past performance data
Publish placement roster annually and revise as needed throughout the school
year
Utilize program checkouts to verify placement within levels as needed
Problem Solving



Collaborate with teachers to address instructional and behavioral concerns
Develop plans to meet student needs
Follow through with all persons involved
Professional Development


Attend additional training relevant to instructional coaching and program
delivery
Work with teachers to assess professional development needs and make
recommendations to district administration accordingly
Response to Intervention (RtI)




Act as district contact when working with Nebraska RtI Consortium
Coordinate RtI committee meetings
Document Tier III referral information for individual students
Enact decisions made by the RtI committee
