Castle View High School Speech and Debate Team 5254 North Meadows Blvd. Castle Rock, Colorado 80109 Dear Students and Parents, Welcome to the 2013-2014 Year of Speech. This promises to be an eventful year! We have some dedicated returning members and LOTS of folks interested in getting involved! Plus, we have several assistant coaches coming on board: Mr. Steve Paulukovich, Mrs. Emily Cave, and Dr. Jadi Morrow. Life is good! This activity takes place generally on Saturdays (see attached tentative schedule). You sign up for tournaments two weeks in advance. You spend the day competing or watching your teammates compete and attending the awards assembly at the end of the day. Generally I will drive an activity bus to the tournament, but if we have more competitors signed up than the bus accommodates (15), I may ask parents to help drive. Parents, you will also be asked to participate by serving as a judge at tournaments. I encourage all parents to attend and participate. It is truly a bonding experience! To learn how to judge, we will be conducting a workshop with our first parents meeting on September 19 at 6:30 p.m. in room 86A (one of the mobile classrooms in front of the school). Dues for this year will be $100.00. This amount will go to paying for NFL memberships, tournament fees, and club T-shirt. Members should return this amount with the membership form as soon as possible. If, like many families these days, you find the amount a problem, you may choose to pay it in installments, $25 by next week and the rest in equal payments to be decided later. Let’s talk! Please read the attached information and sign the three forms required. Return those forms with dues by September 3, if possible. If you have any questions, please email me at sally.graham@dcsdk12.org. I am looking forward to spending quality time with you and your young people! Most sincerely, Sally Graham, Head Speech Coach COMPETITIVE EVENTS: Pick one! With the understanding that my presence and support for my teammates is invaluable, I will commit to being present for final awards.
