o Be Encouraging- let them know you
believe they can do better the next
day
o Remind them how to make better
choices

Understanding PBIS
Positive Behavior Interventions and
Supports (PBIS) is a proactive system to
provide the behavioral supports and social
culture needed for all students at
MacArthur school to achieve social,
emotional, and academic success.
Through PBIS, the staff at MacArthur
School provides various interventions and
supports to our students.
In the diagram to the right, the green part
of the pyramid represents our universal
interventions which 100% of our student
body receives. Most of our students will be
successful academically and behaviorally
with the Universal Interventions we have in
place. Our universal interventions include
the Mac Bear Essentials, the Monday Cool
Tool lessons, and Bear Bucks as positive
reinforcement.
There will be times when a student may
need more support than the Universal
Interventions provide. This is represented
in the yellow portion of the pyramid, or our
Tier II interventions. Students may move
in and out of this level at different times as
their needs change. Tier II Interventions
include Check-In Check Out,
Social/Academic Instructional Groups, and
mentoring.
Students are a part of these interventions
on an as needed basis and may enter or
exit them as they become more successful
or require more support.
