Norman Public Schools: 2015-2016 Proficiency Promotion Application NPS provides two opportunities for proficiency promotion testing each year. Students must be enrolled in Norman Public Schools to be eligible for proficiency promotion testing. A score of 90 percent or greater is required for students to be promoted. High school courses will be transcripted as an “A” and included in a student’s GPA. Students, who do not score 90 percent on proficiency promotion test administered in the Spring, may apply for the Fall testing. Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, English II, English III, U.S. History, and Biology End-of-Instruction requirements must be met in addition to Proficiency Promotion. Proficiency Testing for advancing a grade level: Kindergarten testing is provided for students who are five on or before September 1. Grades 1-8 testing covers math, science, social studies, and literacy. Proficiency Testing for high school course credit: Requires a consultation with a Curriculum Coordinator for specific content area so that future courses and graduation requirements may be discussed. Requires performance-based test for lab science courses, which must be completed after paper/pencil test for composite score of 90%.
