Norman Public Schools: 2015-2016 Proficiency Promotion Application
NPS provides two opportunities for proficiency promotion testing each year.

Students must be enrolled in Norman Public Schools to be eligible for proficiency promotion testing.

A score of 90 percent or greater is required for students to be promoted. High school courses will be transcripted as an “A” and
included in a student’s GPA.

Students, who do not score 90 percent on proficiency promotion test administered in the Spring, may apply for the Fall testing.

Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, English II, English III, U.S. History, and Biology End-of-Instruction requirements must be met in addition
to Proficiency Promotion.


Proficiency Testing for advancing a grade level:
Kindergarten testing is provided for students who are
five on or before September 1.
Grades 1-8 testing covers math, science, social studies,
and literacy.


Proficiency Testing for high school course credit:
Requires a consultation with a Curriculum Coordinator for specific content
area so that future courses and graduation requirements may be discussed.
Requires performance-based test for lab science courses, which must be
completed after paper/pencil test for composite score of 90%.
