Facebook and Other Social Media outreach
The University of Puget Sound’s Office of Alumni and Parent Relations recognizes that one
of the best ways to reach out to alumni is through social media tools that are already
connecting groups of alumni and friends.
Facebook
To initiate reaching out to alumni through Facebook, follow these first steps:
1. “Friend” Ups Alums on Facebook.
2. Work with the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations to create a page for your class,
regional alumni club, affinity group, etc., that you represent on the Alumni Council.
3. “Like” the Facebook page created for your group.
4. Post pictures from your Logger Days, ask questions of other members of the group
(what is a favorite memory from Greek Rush? What song did you have the most fun
singing in Adelphians?), and encourage others to post comments and updates.
5. Post information about upcoming reunions, events, and gatherings, and encourage
people to register to attend.
Using social media to reach out to fellow alumni is a great way to keep in touch. Keep in
mind that frequent updates using social media tools is necessary. Post something new to
your group’s page at least twice per week.
