Earth Week 2011 4/3-4/10 Sunday 4/3 Beach Cleanup 1:00 to 2:30 pm Meet at the Info Desk at 12:45 where participants will be given supplies and transported to the Fairfield Beach area to pick up trash Launch Recycling Re-education campaign Look for signs across campus about how recycling works at Fairfield Monday 4/4 Water Bottle Mountain 11-2 BCCLL Come to the BCCLL all this week to see the mountain of an impact that drinking bottled water has on the environment. Bring us a bag of recyclable plastic water bottles to add to the mountain and we will give you a reusable water bottle. First come, first served. Open Visions-Celine Cousteau 8 pm Quick Center Come to the Quick Center to see Celine Cousteau, environmentalist and granddaughter of Jacque Cousteau, talk about her work. Call the box office for tickets. Tuesday 4/5 Light for Light 11-2 BCCLL Come to our table with your incandescent light bulbs and trade them in for compact florescent bulbs that last longer and are more energy efficient. All old light bulbs will be recycled. Wednesday 4/6 Campus Cleanup 11-2 Stop by the info desk anytime between 11 and 2 on Wednesday and you will be given supplies and directed to an area of campus where you can pick up trash and recyclables. It is a great and easy way to help make campus a better place. Documentary Screening 8pm Thursday 4/7 Cookies for Comments 11-2 BCCLL Stop by the BCCLL on Thursday and trade us your idea about recycling on campus for a free cookie! We are asking students to tell us how they recycle and what issues they have with the current recycling system at Fairfield. Stag Swap 8pm BCCLL Bring your gently used clothes, household items, and non-perishable foods to the BCCLL and trade up for someone else’s at the first Stag Swap! We are moving out in just a few weeks so save yourself a trip to the trash or Goodwill and trade with a fellow stag. (Please no large furniture or perishable food) Friday 4/8 Cookies for Comments 11-2 Stop by the BCCLL on Thursday and trade us your idea about recycling on campus for a free cookie! We are asking students to tell us how they recycle and what issues they have with the current recycling system at Fairfield Sunday 4/10 Concert and Local Food BBQ 4-7pm Oak Room Patio (Rain Location: Barone Cafeteria) Come to the last event of Earth Week and celebrate with local musicians and local food! Barone will be closed and a BBQ dinner will be served picnic style outside with local food choices! While you eat, stay and watch area bands and Fairfield musicians perform at the outdoor concert.
