ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES AND
SYSTEMS
10.3 Investigate and make
judgments on how the
characteristics and properties of
materials are combined with
force, motion and energy to
create engineered solution.
Extensive examination,
analysis and explanation
of the interaction
between material
properties and system
function
Developed examination,
analysis and explanation
of the interaction
between material
properties and system
function
Sound examination,
analysis and explanation
of the interaction
between material
properties and system
function
Nominal examination,
analysis and explanation
of the interaction between
material properties and
system function
Incomplete examination,
analysis and explanation
of the interaction
between material
properties and system
function
INVESTIGATING
10.8 Critique needs or
opportunities to develop design
briefs and investigate and select
an increasingly sophisticated
range of materials, systems,
components, tools and
equipment to develop design
ideas.
Highly considered
identification and
analysis of tools,
equipment, techniques
and materials examining
relationships of
properties
Reflected identification
and analysis of tools,
equipment, techniques
and materials examining
relationships of
properties
Sound identification and
analysis of tools,
equipment, techniques
and materials examining
relationships of
properties
Partial identification and
analysis of tools,
equipment, techniques
and materials examining
relationships of properties
Insignificant identification
and analysis of tools,
equipment, techniques
and materials examining
relationships of
properties
GENERATING
10.9 Apply design thinking,
creativity, and innovation and
enterprise skills to develop,
modify and communicate design
ideas of increasing
sophistication.
Comprehensive and
creative communication
of design ideas for
project development and
justification of decisions
using technical terms and
standards
Detailed communication
of design ideas for
project development and
justification of decisions
using technical terms and
standards
Appropriate and
applicable
communication of design
ideas for project
development and
justification of decisions
using technical terms and
standards
Incomplete evidence of
design ideas and
justification using
representation
techniques.
Minimal communication
of design ideas and
explanation of using
representation
techniques
PRODUCING
10.10 Work flexibly to safely test,
select, justify and use
appropriate technologies and
processes to make designed
solutions
Proficiently
collaboratively,
independently and safely
works to produce quality
designed solutions that
meet all design brief
criteria, making
thoughtful adjustments to
plans when necessary.
Extensive evaluation of
the suitability of design
identified criteria for
success and considers
extensive suggestions for
improvements to design
processes.
Capable - mostly
accurate collaborative,
independent and safely
works to produce
designed solutions that
meet all design brief
criteria, making logical
adjustments to plans
when necessary.
Detailed evaluation of the
suitability of design
identified criteria for
success and considers
detailed suggestions for
improvements to design
processes
Competently
collaboratively, semidependant and safely
works to produce
designed solutions that
meet most design brief
criteria making
reasonable adjustments
to plans when necessary.
Sound
evaluation of the
suitability of design
identified criteria for
success and suggests
reasonable
improvements to design
processes
Limited processes to
select materials,
components, tools and
equipment to produce
some aspects of the
designed solutions.
Unable to select
materials, components,
tools, and equipment to
produce incomplete
aspects of the designed
solutions.
Marginal evaluation of the
suitability of design
against identified criteria
for success and provides
partial evidence of
improvements to the
design process.
Inadequate or no
evaluation of design
against the identified
criteria and minimal
evidence of
improvements to the
design process.
EVALAUTING
Evaluate design ideas,
processes and solutions against
comprehensive criteria for
success recognising the need for
sustainability
DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY DESIGN FOLIO AND PRODUCT- MAKING BIOFUELS - CRITERIA
1) Using the Design Folio student’s guide, follow the steps for Inquiry Based Learning and present the Folio in a digital format. Every group member should take responsibility
for completing each section.
2) Make sure you have your completed Folio and Product for the Science Fair – that is, display each section of the Design Cycle: Investigating / Generating / Producing /
Evaluating. You should be able to discuss the steps you followed throughout the whole process.
