Hockey Festival Meeting The Hockey Festival Committee Chairman provided an update. He confirmed that the Committee were all stepping down this year but would support anyone willing to take on the responsibility. Thanks were given to all Committee members who have served in support of the hockey festival both this year and in the past. More money was made from the 2014 festival than the 2013 festival. He commented that he confirmed his personal pride with the contributions made to Naomi House over the years. The floor expressed their thanks to the Hockey festival Committee. The Chair confirmed that finding a new Festival Committee to keep the festival running would be an agenda item on the first committee meeting. Expressions of interest to support the agenda was given by Pete Jex. 2. Ladies Club Captain Report A copy of the report was provided to the Secretary. Key points included: - 1s finishing top - 2nd finishes top - 3rd finishing second - Thanks were expressed to coaches and captains - Back to Hockey and Junior progressing has supported these successes 3. Men’s Club Captain Report A copy of the report was provided to the Secretary. Key points included: - No relegations for four years - Five teams ran this season - Thanks were expressed to coaches and captains, especially managing fixtures - Top 6 finish for all teams except Men’s 1s Strong young players coming through, for example the Men’s 1s have had a 14 year old playing for them Vets will be promoted and they won the Vets Cup - Informed members that running 10 teams across the club on one pitch creates challenges for time allocations and umpire and asks 4. Real Ale Festival Report Last year had 3,000 people turn-up. This was 1,000 less than the previous year. This was due to the difference in weather conditions, which made it a great success. More ale was consumed, they stayed for longer and made us more money this year. Overall, £7k was donated to Naomi House and £7k was raised for Newbury & Thatcham Hockey Club. The risks of the weather was mentioned to members, as 12 hours before the festival site was flooded. It was confirmed that some contingency money is set aside for risks. £5k was raised prior to the event but this wouldn’t cover the costs if the festival was cancelled. This year the Newbury & Thatcham Hockey Club logo was included within tops and within promotional material to link the festival closely with the club. 5. Report from Fixtures Secretary Both men’s and ladies fixture secretary reports were included within the Men’s and Ladies Club Captain reports. 6. Election of Umpire Coordinator Andy Radbourne-Smith was proposed by Lee Jordan and James Gaitskill and agreed unanimously. 8. Coaching and Training Report The Club Captain confirmed the success of the ladies section having three Level 2 coaches across three teams, and the men’s section having one Level 2 coach across six teams with weaker results. He affirmed his commitment to identify and develop more coaches to support senior training so that the men’s section has more support at training. There was a further desire and request from captains to increase attendance at training and this assists in the quality of training overall and ensures sessions run effectively. There is an aim to ensure consistent and the highest coaching standards across the club. A question was raised from the floor about Goalkeeper training. There was a goalkeeper coach but attendance was low and therefore did not continue to any great extent through the season. There was then a discussion about running some specific skills sessions using players with expertise and build them up to become interested in coaching over time. The Chair expressed his thanks to Jim Ross. 9. AOB Playing Kit - The floor asked about Senior Kit process. The Committee confirmed that for next season Gilmour Sports had been selected to provide an online shop for buying Senior playing kit. 10.
