FCA Position Description Position: Greater Pittsburgh Director of College Ministry (DCM) Reports To: Pittsburgh Area Director Position Description: The position of Director of College Ministry (DCM) is responsible for growing the influence of FCA on college campuses across the Pittsburgh Area through prayer and by staffing the campuses with campus representatives and field associates. The DCM should model the FCA Values of Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence. In the Pittsburgh Area there are six schools within a 5 mile radius (Pittsburgh, Carlow, Duquesne, Carnegie Melon, Point Park and Chatham). FCA Pittsburgh is hiring a man or woman fit for overseeing and growing our college ministry on these six campuses. The person in this position is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, equipping and encouraging campus representatives, campus associates and campus chaplains, and campus interns at the six college campuses in the Pittsburgh Area. The DCM ensures the effectiveness of the ministry through development of staff, a college ministry leadership board and volunteers. Additionally, the DCM is responsible for ensuring that sufficient financial resources are in place to support the ministry. The DCM is accountable for ensuring that the FCA ministry is conducted according to biblical standards and adhere to FCA policies and procedures. Responsibilities and Activities 1. Seeks spiritual and personal growth. Spends frequent solitude time in prayer and the Word. Develops and maintains relationship(s) for personal accountability. Seeks worship and weekly involvement in a local church. Daily shares Christ through word and life. Seeks the Lord’s will for the ministry of FCA. Seeks feedback from supervisor, coaches and other FCA staff to improve ministry effectiveness. Develops an annual plan for personal and professional growth Fosters a spirit of unity and teamwork in completing responsibilities. 2. Develops a ministry plan for reaching and ministering to coaches and athletes on college campuses in Pittsburgh. Strives to fulfill the FCA vision and mission. FCA Position Description Director of College Ministry 08/07/2014 Oversees ministry opportunities that may include, but not limited to, relationship building, leadership teams, huddles, chapels, team ministries, coaches’ studies, small group Bible studies and 1:1 discipleship. Ensures that FCA reflects the diversity represented in the body of Christ. Seeks to have a spirit of unity with other ministries on campus. 3. Consistently prays for, recruits, trains, equips, leads and encourages staff and volunteers on college campuses. Communicates the FCA Vision, Mission, and Values to staff. Ensures the FCA Values (Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence) are represented in programs, actions and methods on the campus. Follows chain of command for hiring, evaluating and terminating staff. Conducts orientation for new staff and ensures ongoing training of staff. Encourages and shepherds college staff in godliness and ministry effectiveness. Develops a college campus staffing plan for the Pittsburgh Area. 4. Oversees Coaches Ministry on campuses. Sees that staff members have weekly appointments with coaches Sees that there are coaches’ studies on each campus. Encourage coaches to attend FCA camps, seminars, clinics and/or retreats. Provide resources, books, tracts, etc. for staff members to use with coaches. Provide statistical information for coaches to include in their speeches. 5. Oversees Campus Ministry on campuses. Supports existing huddles and starts new huddles on college campuses. Sees that staff members recruit, implement and train FCA leadership teams made up of diverse representatives from different athletic teams on campus. Provides opportunities for college athletes to serve in and minister to local high school huddles. Supports existing opportunities for athletes to be involved in spiritual retreats, seminars, clinics, etc. 6. Oversees Community Ministry on campuses Works with the college ministry Leadership Board to implement a Leadership Board strategy, board member selection, training and evaluation. Recruits and trains board members that will develop strategy for raising funds and building a base for an ongoing campus ministry. Provides opportunities for coaches and athletes to share their testimony at community events. (i.e. FCA adult chapter meetings, churches and community events.) 7. Develops and implements a plan to fund own position and oversees the development of funding plans for the Pittsburgh Area college ministry. Builds a personal Home Team. Develops and implement plans to generate recurring revenue by working with coaches and Athletic Director to identify key alumni, former college athletes, and former FCA huddle members from the university.
