Come take part in the Plattsburgh FC Soccer Mayor’s Cup Challenge to be held
in Plattsburgh, New York on July 12th and 13th located in upstate New York on
historical Lake Champlain. We are currently accepting applications for this
tournament in the U14, U16 and U18 boys and girls divisions. The tournament will be
a 4 team round - robin style on July 12th, with playoffs taking place on July 13th.
This tournament is being held at the high quality turf and grass fields located at
SUNY Plattsburgh and Plattsburgh High School. These fields are all within a 2 mile
proximity to I-87, numerous hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers. Along with the
proximity to all amenities, the City of Plattsburgh will be hosting the 37th Annual
Mayor’s Cup Regatta. The Mayor’s Cup event features many festival activities to
include numerous outdoor concerts, fireworks, parade of boats on beautiful Lake
Champlain, and the very popular Mayor’s Cup Idol singing competition all located in
downtown Plattsburgh.
Cost for the tournament is $400.00. Early registration prior to April 15th is $375.00.
Teams are guaranteed a minimum of four 50 minute games. Saturday will be a round
robin style tournament with all teams playing each other once. A point system will
determine seeding for Sundays playoffs. Registration deadline is May 31, 2014.

RULES
1. Capital District Youth Soccer League (CDYSL) rules (http://cdysl.org/cdysl-rules/) shall apply, except where
modified below.
2. Maximum roster size twenty-two (22) per team. A player may not play for more than one team during the
tournament. Maximum of three (3) guest players allowed.
3. Team rep or coach must register team prior to start of play. Each team will be required to provide the
following documentation at registration: a copy of an official team roster approved by CDYSL or USYSA
affiliate or
affiliate; Current CDYSL or USYSA affiliate player / coach pass cards (laminated with
a photo). A completed and signed USYSA player information medical release (a club medical release is
appropriate). For guest players, a copy of an official team roster for which the guest player plays on and a
current player pass (laminated with a photo). For non Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association teams,
an appropriate USYSA or affiliate permission to travel form will be required
4. Points: 6 points for a win, 3 points for a tie, 0 points for a loss, 1 point per goal up to 3 goals,
5. Spectators must remain behind fenced area and teams will remain inside fenced field area during game
play. Coaches, players and team managers (1) must remain between the 18-yard line and their side of the
half line. No spectators are permitted to sit behind the goal area.
6. Games will be 50 minutes (2-25 minute halves). Stoppage time may apply if referee(s) deem necessary.
7. Substitutions may only be made with the referee’s permission. The leaving player must be off the field
before the new player enters. Substitutions may be made on:
a. Any throw-in
b. Any goal kick
c. Any injury
d. After a goal
8. Any player that is red-carded shall not be replaced. The player shall be suspended from the game and
serve a one game suspension in the following game. Any player receiving two (2) yellow cards during a
game shall be suspended from the remainder of the game and serve a one game suspension.
9. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players and parents while both on and off the field.
Misconduct of player(s) or parent(s) could result in a team suspension from the tournament.
10. All teams are responsible for their own insurance. The Plattsburgh FC Soccer Club, SUNY Plattsburgh,
and Plattsburgh High School will not be held liable in the event of injury during travel to or while
participating in the July 12th-13th Plattsburgh FC Soccer Mayors Cup Challenge
11. No dogs are allowed on or at tournament field sites.
12. Weather: The tournament will take place rain or shine. However, the tournament committee reserves the
right to postpone or delay a game during inclement weather, or change the duration of a game due to
inclement weather or to cancel the entire tournament due to the weather for the safety of the players and
the good of the playing fields. There is no guarantee for full or partial refund of regsitrtion fees.
13. General: The tournament committee shall reserve the right to modify the Tournament Rules at any time.
