RAMSBOTTOM PATIENT REPRESENTATIVE GROUP MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 24TH NOVEMBER 2015 AT 1.15 PM AT RAMSBOTTOM HEALTH CENTRE 1. Apologies were received from Louise Fitzwalter. Apologies were received from Paula Wroe. 2. The minutes of the last meeting were approved. 3. Actions from previous meeting. a) Wet wipes near practice check-in computer It was reported that the wet wipes for the check-in computer were not being used. Complaints had been received that some patients were not using them. b) Out-of hours appointments The service is working well including Saturday and Sunday but between 6-8 pm during the week it was difficult to get an appointment. . 4. Matters Arising a) Flu campaign Lloyds Chemist is also giving flu vaccinations. The practice will know if the target has been met by the end of the flu campaign in March/April and if the chemist has had an impact on volumes. Mary reported that the practice is struggling at present to meet the target due to the resultant mild weather. The surgery has been open on Saturdays to provide this service. When a patient attends for an appointment, the computer screen will flash up if the patient has not had the flu vaccination and each doctor’s room has the vaccination to hand. The NHS has wanted more people to have the flu vaccination and it is not known if the local chemist will have the contract next year. The NHS has also increased the surgery’s target. b) Pharmacist feedback Mary had asked for feedback from the patients in response to the pharmacist, Kareen from Lloyds Chemist, working in the practice. The doctors have reported that the pharmacist had helped with their workload. It has been noted that some patients felt they needed to see the doctor before seeing the pharmacist but this is not the case. Appointments can be made to see the pharmacist to discuss medication and checking for discrepancies, medication review of all patients throughout the practice, authorising repeat prescriptions, patients having problems with medication, wanting to change medication or come off them. Kareen is at the surgery for a six month pilot but it is hoped to extend to end of March 2016. c) Closure of surgery over Christmas Mary reported that on Christmas Eve the practice would like to close at 4 pm. Bardoc used to take phone calls between 4-6 pm and if a patient wanted to see a doctor, Bardoc would call the on-call doctor who would evaluate the situation if a home visit was needed. Bardoc has been replaced by telephone No 111 who will not cover this time period. The practice awaits confirmation from CCG to see if the practice can close at 4 pm. d) Prescriptions doubled up over Christmas period Prescriptions will be doubled up during this period and will be dispensed to Lloyds Chemist. Action: Mary to contact Cohens regarding this service. 5. Any Other Business Action: Andrew will email/post the minutes to representatives. Mary decided that the next meeting will be a virtual one by email, unless patients strongly recommend a meeting at the practice. It was reported that text messages had not been received to remind a patient of their appointment and reminder to over 60’s of the flu vaccination. Action: Andrew will check on this. It was decided that patients email Derek Harper, representative of the PRG, anonymously with their comments and any grievances and also any positive feedback about the surgery to del233uk@sky.com or the practice website on www.ramsbottomhc.nhs.uk. 6. Date of Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 23rd February at the practice. Mary Sharkey Practice Director
