1. Written Statement: Please attach/staple a written statement (written or typed) detailing:
 The position for which you are applying
 Why you are applying for this position
 Why you are the best candidate for the position
 How you plan to use your position to improve Apex High School in REALISTIC ways
2. Notification of Application Approval: You will be notified on September 5, 2014 of your application approval or
disapproval. This will be emailed to the address you provide on the first page of the application.
3. Campaigning: You have September 8 – September 17 to campaign for you position.
You may:
 Put up flyers around school. Do not tape to doors or windows.
 Hand out “goodies” – candy, pencils, pins, ribbons, etc
You may NOT:
 Negatively campaign – no name-calling, bullying, etc.
 Deface other campaigners’ materials – no ripping down of posters, etc
 Disrupt classes with campaign efforts
Violations to campaign rules may result in dismissal from the campaign.
4. Candidate Speech: Prepare a 90 second maximum speech that will be filmed on September 11, 2014. This speech
will be aired to the Student Body on StudCo Election Day, September 17, 2014. The speech does not need to be turned in
with this application, however it should resemble your written statement above.
5. General StudCo Information and Expectations:
 Meetings are every Thursday at 2:30 in Pod F.
 Executive Board Positions and Class Positions are expected to attend EVERY meeting, unless told otherwise.
Failure to maintain favorable attendance will result in dismissal from position.
o Should you need to miss a meeting, contact the Student Body Secretary before the meeting.
 All officers are expected to participate in and help with the preparation of Homecoming, including the Pep Rally
and the Parade.
 Executive Board and Senior Class officers are expected to help with the preparation and execution of Mr. Apex.
 Executive Board President is expected to attend Wake County Student Council Meetings. Other officers may
attend as well.
 If you feel as if you cannot meet these expectations… do not run for a position in Student Council. Regular
members of StudCo can still help plan and participate in Homecoming, Mr. Apex, and other StudCo activities.
