Will Adams always comes first when the register is called. Adam Williams always
comes last – he’s had enough of this. He thinks it would be better if the register
was in order of first names. Here are some of the other first names in the class –
can you put them all in alphabetical order?

Part 3 – Looking up words
Remember that a Welsh dictionary has two halves.
Look up Welsh words in the Welsh half, and English words in the English half. In
our dictionaries, the Welsh side comes first. Sometimes people forget thereare
two halves to the dictionary and look in the wrong half. When they can’t find the
word they’re looking for, they think it isn’t there.
Remember Welsh is at the front, English is at the back. If you close the dictionary
you will see a line in the middle of the book which divides the two halves.
Also remember that the Welsh alphabet is slightly different to the English
alphabet. What differences can you see?
