College Comparison Assignment In order for students to make the absolute best choice of higher institutions of learning, students will do extensive research about three different academic or vocational institutions during this part of the portfolio assignment. First, students will complete the College Comparison Worksheet which will enable them to find out anything and everything about their potential colleges. Students may choose their colleges based on what they already know, but even if they have already decided to attend a certain institution, students must complete this worksheet for three different colleges. No one has signed on the dotted line yet, so this comparison still has the potential to benefit everyone. After students have completed their College Comparison Worksheet, students will take the most important or helpful information to them and transcribe it into well-written paragraphs. Students will have a total of three paragraphs- one for each college- that explain in detail (using the information from the College Comparison Worksheet) why the student is either still considering a college or has decided against going to a college. Each paragraph must incorporate at least one piece of information from each of the sections on the College Comparison Worksheet. As such, each paragraph will have at least 10 sentences (one for each section and one explaining whether or not the student is still considering the college). Each paragraph may have more sentences/explanations if desired by the student. Students will have time on Tuesday, November 3; Wednesday, November 4; and Friday, November 6 to work on this assignment. Thursday will be a senior book work day, but if students finish their senior book essays early, they may use that lab time to work on their College comparisons. This assignment will be due on Monday, November 9 at the beginning of the period.
