As you may be aware, UQ is participating in the 2015 Student Experience Survey (SES). The survey is
being conducted for the Department of Education and Training and will help universities and
government to improve the student experience in Australian higher education.
All current first and final year undergraduate students and all postgraduate coursework students
have been selected to participate in the survey and will receive an invitation to complete the online
SES questionnaire. All responses are confidential and no personal information will be linked to
students’ responses.
The data obtained from the SES will play a key role in the ongoing evolution of Australian higher
education, so the University is encouraging all staff to promote the survey to our students. UQ also
uses the data to inform decisions about how to improve our teaching and learning, and student
services and supports.
A range of promotional materials have been developed to assist professional and academic staff to
promote the survey to UQ students, including social media posts, screensavers and a slide which can
be added to the end of lecture slides. Please visit http://www.uq.edu.au/teaching-learning/studentevaluation to access these materials.
It would be greatly appreciated if academic staff teaching first and final year undergraduates or
postgraduate coursework students could please take a moment at the end of classes throughout
August to let students know they will receive an invitation to complete the SES.
UQ has been set specific response rate targets to achieve or exceed across (44) Subject Areas, and
strong promotion of the SES will greatly assist in reaching these outcomes.
