She also said that she had spoken to all the teaching staff who though that the ‘Jobs Day’ idea was very good and that they would look into possibly doing this during the Spring/Summer term. The children were informed that Miss West is making great connections with our American school but explained to the children that the time different/their school holidays are different in America and therefore we haven’t been able to make contact over the past 10/12 weeks very easily. Jessica Cook said that she was going to speak to her cousin in Spain this week about making a Spanish connection with a school over there. School Development Plan Mrs Wheeler talked to the group about our School Development Plan and explained that this is a document that she works on with Mrs Veryard and Mr Beauford about what subjects/projects they are planning to teach over the coming months. She explained also that the School Development Plan allows them to see areas which the school want to improve in. Mrs Wheeler explained to the children that she is a National Leader in Education and this meant that she visited other schools to help them improve. She shares ideas that we use here at Holy Trinity, for example spellings – the games we play, and sacawac etc. It was discussed that Year 4 use a dictionary and Mrs Wheeler asked the group that it may be a good idea to see if the Year 4 children find this useful she believes that it does. Mrs Wheeler explained that she would put together a ‘child friendly’ version of the School Development Plan for the group to put on their notice board in their office. Page 2 Head/Junior Governors Office As a group they discussed the new office and what they would like to put onto their board. Mrs Wheeler explained that she will give them the School Development Plan for their board (Jessica Cook asked for it to be on buff paper). Ideas for the board: Neve Mumford – for each of them to hold a letter out to spell Junior Governors (if enough children) for their board Jessica Cook – suggested an ‘All about Me’ piece on each of them. Mrs Wheeler also explained that this could go onto our new website. The piece could include the following: Who you are What you like – hobbies inside and out of school What you are doing at school etc. Michael Collins – put photographs around the edge of the board Jessica Cook – the Rainbow and our values – the name of each child in this group could maybe go onto the Rainbow. Mrs Wheeler explained to the children that they were not to use staple guns but Mrs Noone would be more than happy to help them with the board they just need to ask. Mrs Wheeler said could she have the ‘All about Me’ pieces ready to bring to the meetings on Monday the 30th November (this meeting would take place after the Sword and the Stone performance). Project/Subject to find out about Mrs Wheeler explained that the children were to pick just one subject to look into at a time. She gave an example to the children about Social learning. This is something that is done during community time every week. It also is covered by playground rules/the 3 step rule etc. The children were given permission to work on projects and their notice board during break times and lunchtimes. If they need additional space to carry out these projects then Mrs Wheeler said that they could use Class 13 – just check with Mrs Noone first please. Page 3 Any other Business The Heads were given a letter to take home about the Sleeping Beauty Pantomime next month. If there were any spaces left she wanted to know if any of the Heads would be interested in going. Forms to be returned to the office please asap. Holy Trinity School Choir – from December the timings for this will change on a Friday. It will happen between 1.30pm – 2.30pm. It will allow children to then go to Church worship as this is being missed by some children and they would like to do both!
