Wildcat Classic 2015 NLR Middle School 2400 Lakeview Rd North Little Rock, AR 72116 Email: higdemb@nlrsd.org stanleyk@nlrsd.org Dear Friends: North Little Rock High School-West Campus is pleased to invite you and your students to the Wildcat Classic 2015 on Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5, 2015. The tournament will be located at NLR Middle School (behind Target) this year and NOT at the new high school campus. We will be running a new schedule this year!! We are thrilled to be offering multiple preliminary rounds in Individual Events this year. Pattern A of NSDA Individual Events will begin on Friday evening to allow for two preliminary rounds of competition. Group events will now compete Friday night for Junior High and Saturday afternoon for Varsity. Please consult the schedule carefully!!!! The North Little Rock Charging Wildcat Tournament is a qualifying tournament for the ACTAA State Tournament of Champions in April. We will offer sweepstakes awards to large schools, small schools and junior highs. Note that the entry form asks for your AAA designation. We will also have trophies for top 6 finalists in IE’s in Varsity, and certificates and trophies for the top 6 finalists in IE’s for Junior High competitors. Please be familiar with the ACTAA rule changes and new events for the 2014-2015 school year. These are located at www.ACTAA.net. Entry Requirements: Tournament entries should be made through the Joy of Tournaments. Mr. Box-Higdem will send word once the tournament has been opened for registration online. The deadline for entries is November 30 by 4:00 PM. Thanksgiving break is right around this time. Please plan accordingly. Junior High: We will offer one prelim round in all Junior High Individual Events, which will advance to either semifinals or straight to finals, depending on the amount of entries. Individual Events: The NSDA events (OO, DUO, DI, HI, IX, DX) will have 2 prelim rounds on Friday evening. ACTAA Events (Mime, Poetry, Prose, Storytelling, and Duet Improv) will have one prelim round and will then advance to the appropriate elimination round. Look very closely at the updated schedule. First and last names should be on each entry. All entries must be specified upon registration. NO OPEN ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED after the deadline. Multiple slates are welcome, but one qualified judge for every ten individual event entries must be provided. Entries in each individual event will be capped off at 10 per event. In Reader’s Theatre and Words and Music, each school may submit only one entry per event. Junior High GEs will perform Friday evening, Varsity GEs on Saturday afternoon right before awards. Coaches MUST have proof of performance/royalties with them at check-in time. Events will be divided into two patterns (A and B). Be sure that a student does not enter more than two events in each pattern. Students may not enter into two draw events. Double-entered students will be responsible for making both events in the time frame provided. Judges will not wait for students after the round has ended. As the tournament advances, students may have to choose between events. There will be no refunds for students who miss their round for any reason. No refunds will be provided for individual events dropped after the deadline. Maverick policy debaters will not be allowed to compete. Novice Policy, Champ Policy, IPDA, LD, and Public Forum will be offered. Debate entries will be limited to six(6) entries per category due to space. One qualified debate judge for every 2 debate entries is expected. We reserve the right to collapse, condense, or eliminate events if there are not enough entries. Judging Requirements: One qualified judge must be provided for every ten individual event entires. Additionally, a debate judge must be provided for every two debate entries. You are welcome to provide additional judges! Because qualified debate judges are difficult to find, it is imperative that your judging slate arrive and are viable options. If it is found that your judges do not arrive, your teams may have to be forfeited. A $10 judge fee will be charged to pay for hired judges if there are uncovered rounds. The ACTAA Judges’ Agreement is included in this document. You MUST submit these forms at registration or your judge will not be allowed to cover you judging commitments and fees will be reassessed. We will provide concessions for students and hospitality for coaches and judges; please do not bring outside food into our school. Please inform students that food/ drink is not allowed in classrooms. Our school will be in session until 4:00 p.m. on the 4th, so please do not arrive on campus before 4:30 p.m. Advise students that NLR Middle School is a non-smoking campus. Also, because we will be running a tight schedule, we will provide a student concession area in our cafeteria both days of the tournament. Tournament will follow ACTAA rules and guidelines. Tournament rules are listed on the ACTAA website (http://actaa.memberlodge.org/).
