WISCONSIN HISTORY SYMPOSIUM 2014 - “People and the Land”
The University of Wisconsin – Platteville is hosting a Wisconsin History Symposium in
early April, 2014. The conference theme is “People and the Land”. In conjunction with
the symposium, UW-Platteville’s Harry and Laura Nohr Gallery will host a related
exhibition of artworks which reflect an interest in, or otherwise address, the history of
Wisconsin – its people and the land. We are seeking submissions for this juried
exhibition. All types of art in all media – including (but not limited) to painting,
sculpture, photography, printmaking, and fiber - are eligible.
The exhibition will be on view from Monday, March 24th through Friday, April 11th, 2014.
Please plan ahead! The timeline is as follows:
Application materials must be received by Tuesday, February 18, 2014
Artists will be notified of inclusion by Monday, February 24, 2014.
Accepted works need to be at the gallery by Friday, March 21, 2014.
Gallery reception Friday, April 4th 4:30 – 7 pm
Accepted artwork must be shipped, or delivered, in "ready-to-hang" condition. We will
provide pedestals for three-dimensional works and projection equipment as needed.
Artworks may be for sale. Unsold work must be picked up between April 12th and April
18th, or an adequate pre-paid container must be provided for return shipping.
To apply: Only digital submissions can be considered.
You must apply by e-mail. Attach jpeg images representing up to 5 pieces, along with
the completed application form, to wihiart@gmail.com
There is no application fee for this exhibition opportunity.
The Nohr Gallery will retain a 25% commission on any sales made during the exhibition. Please budget
this into your pricing scheme.

The Harry and Laura Nohr Gallery is the central location for art exhibits on campus. Located in Ullsvik Hall
on a corner of Main Street and Hickory Street, the gallery is easily visible and readily accessible to
students and the community. The Nohr Gallery provides high quality cultural and educational
opportunities in the visual arts, free of charge, to the students, faculty and staff of the University of
Wisconsin-Platteville, and the people of Platteville and the Southwestern Wisconsin region.
The Wisconsin History Symposium is grateful for the support of the UW-Platteville Office
of the Provost, the College of Liberal Arts and Education, and the Department of Social
Sciences.
