Please see this month’s edition of Info Burst Welsh Ambulance Service News National Survey for Wales A Wales-wide survey has revealed that 90 per cent of people who needed to call for an ambulance in the last 12 months were satisfied with the overall service they received, the Trust is pleased to report. Of those who had dialled 999, a staggering ninety seven per cent had trust and confidence in the ambulance crew’s professional skills, according to the National Survey for Wales. Seventy nine per cent were satisfied with the time they had to wait for the ambulance to arrive. Non – Emergency Patient Transport Service - Getting you to hospital We are looking at how we can improve the Non Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) in Wales. WAST has been working with a number of groups and people who have an interest in NEPTS to develop a project to help us make the best decision for people who use the service. Information on alternative transport providers You may be aware the trust are using alternative transport providers including private ambulances, third sector ambulances and taxis, to support our crews in the face of increased demand. Over the last 12 months we’ve seen a continued rise in demand for our service. New service to provide talking technologies to people with severe speech and communication problems There are an estimated 15,500 people in Wales who suffer with severe speech and communication problems who will benefit from some form of communication equipment and at least 1,540 of these will require high-tech communication equipment, which can be very expensive. The new, expanded NHS Wales service, backed by £1.25m funding from the Welsh Government for equipment over two years, together with funding for the permanent appointment of additional staff, will ensure people receive the support they need to support their independence and the quality of their lives. The new system will make it easier for people organ donation wishes to be clearer and could lead to a 25% increase in organ donations. Wales new flying doctors has officially been launched by the First Minister The Welsh Government-funded EMRTS (Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service) Cymru sees consultants join critical care practitioners on Wales Air Ambulance missions for the first time. The teams are able to reach 95% of the population by air and 46% by road within 30 minutes. Click here to find out more Awareness Campaigns For July Screening Services - Public Health Wales, Screening Division will be running their 3rd annual Screening for Life Campaign which starts on the 1st July for a month. The campaign aim is to raise awareness of the importance of breast, cervical, bowel and abdominal aortic aneurysm screening and to explain to the public what and how the national screening programmes operate in Wales.
