ISLA BANK SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 30 April 2015 Term 2, Week 3 NOTICES FROM THE PRINCIPAL Excitement is building for our trip to Te Anau tomorrow. Thank you to the parents that have offered to assist with transport and help us with the children on this trip. All permission slips should now be into the school. A notice was sent home on Tuesday with further instructions and has also been included within todays newsletter. MATHS NIGHT This has been planned for Thursday 21st May. We require families to register by the 14th May if they are planning on attending the night. Please fill out the form below and return to the school. By registering for this night you will receive a maths pack which you will be able to take home and use with your families. TECHNOLOGY Year 7 and 8’s will be attending technology in Winton from 18th – 21st May. Invoices were sent home with the children today. ANZAC We are going to the Southland Museum on the 14th May, to “experience life in a trench.” We would appreciate parents accompanying us on this trip. Permission slips were enclosed with last weeks newsletter. There is a cost of $2 for this trip. FITNESS Children continue running everyday to increase their fitness levels. All children need to bring suitable running footwear daily. This does not include gumboots please. Some children have made excellent progress, which they are all tracking and would love to share their results with family. TE ANAU TRIP This is taking place on 8 May. This trip is being funded by the curriculum budget. SURVEY FOR COMMISSIONER Surveys are still welcome if you have not yet returned them. All children are to bring a change of clothes so that they return on the bus nice and warm. Please make sure your child has a packed lunch with no heat ups. Parents need to collect children at 4pm from school. There will be no buses running in the afternoon. The Big bus will do the first run in the morning as usual but NOT the second run. Children on the second run need to come to school by car and be at school by 8.10am. We need to be at the wildlife park by 10.30am sharp. Please remember to bring a jacket and wear warm clothing, with suitable walking footwear. No gumboots please. All permission slips should be at the school. The Otautau bus children will be dropped home by the Kempthornes. Elgregoe Magic show 25 May 2015 Wallacetown Community Centre This will reinforce values and positive behaviour TRANSITION CLASSES We also run 4 year old transition classes each Wednesday morning in Room 3. So if you have, or know a 4 year old who will be coming to our school soon, please contact the school to advise us of this. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Our family will be attending the Maths night on 21st May. Just a quick reminder that heat ups need to be wrapped in tinfoil or baking paper and need to be clearly named. This service will be daily for Terms two and three. Central Southland College Reunion Central Southland College will be celebrating its 50th Jubilee at Labour Weekend 2015. PTA NEWS ANZ FutureFERNS programme Riverton Netball Club have been selected to run a programme aimed at year 1,2 & 3 NEXT MEETING: Due to unforeseen circumstances our next meeting which is the AGM will now be held on Wednesday 20th May @ 7pm students interested in playing netball in the future This is an exciting new programme which is very well structured and runs for 6 weeks We are going to have sessions on Wednesdays from 3.30 til 4.30 at Riverton Primary School netball court. The first session is Wednesday 27th May. There is a small cost of $10 per person for the 6 weeks. This programme is going to ensure that when players are ready to play competition netball they are all at similar skill levels.
