June 5, 2015 CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY WINS 2014-15 VaSID ALL-SPORTS SURVEY NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Christopher Newport University won just under 70% of its contests in the 2014-15 season to capture the Virginia Sports Information Directors College Division AllSports Survey for the seventh year in a row. The Captains have won the title every year since 2008-09 and for the 11th time since 2000. This survey ranks the overall winning percentages of non-NCAA Division I schools in the state. The Captains went 215-92-9 to finish with a 69.5% winning percentage. CNU teams won four Capital Athletic Conference titles and made five NCAA Division III National Championship tournament appearances. Randolph-Macon College came in second in the survey with a combined record of 201-112-1 for a 64.2% winning percentage. The Yellow Jackets won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball title and advanced to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Division III Tournament. This marks the highest finish in at least the last 15 years for the Yellow Jackets in the survey. Virginia Wesleyan College took third place this year as the Marlins were a combined 184-102-7 for a 64% winning percentage. Three VWC teams made appearances in NCAA Division III Tournaments. Rounding out the top five were the University of Mary Washington (63.7%) and Virginia State University (61.7%). Winning the men’s division was Virginia Wesleyan College with an 81-35-5 record for a 69% winning percentage. Christopher Newport University was second with an 87-45-5 mark for a 65.3% winning percentage, while The Apprentice School was third with a 68-39 record for a 63.6% winning percentage. On the women’s side, Washington & Lee University had the best percentage as they went 11737-1 for a 75.8% winning percentage. Christopher Newport University was second going 128- 47-4 for a 72.6% mark. The University of Mary Washington was third as they went 125-64-2 for a 66% winning percentage. Washington & Lee University won the most conference titles in the state with seven followed by Bridgewater College with five. They also had the most post-season appearances with seven, followed by Bridgewater College with six and Christopher Newport University with five.
