Community Events- include any of the major events from the village- consider including: the locusts (Ch. 7), Week of Peace (Ch. 4), The Feast of the New Yam (ch.5), Okonkwo’s inadvertent gun fire and exile (Ch. 13), the missionaries in Abame (Ch. 15), when the missionaries do not die after building in the Evil Forest (ch. 17), etc. Weather- cover the weather related events like the drought and relentless downpours Okonkwo endures after he is given yams from Nwakibie (Ch.3) Obituaries- write an obituary for at least 2 of the following characters: Ikemefuna (Ch.7-8), Ezuedu (Ch. 13), or Okonkwo. Include their accomplishments and what they will be remembered for, the family they will leave behind, etc. Opinion- illustrate the missionaries’ arrival and effect on Ibo people in an opinionated narrative from a native’s perspective (Ch. 20) Style- describe the current trends in Ibo style (hair, dress, etc.) as you see portrayed in the book (ch. 4, ch. 8) Food- Describe the trends in food and how it is used in Ibo culture; include a fictionalized recipe to offer to readers (throughout novel) Law and Justice- Cover the dispute between husband and wife Mgbafo and Uzowulu. Report the happenings and the outcome (Ch. 10) Marriages- Report the marriages from the book. Incorporate specifics about the bride price, wedding plans, quotes from the couple…. (Obierka’s daughter- ch. 8, 12) Travel- Spotlight on the Evil Forest; what will a visitor witness? (ch. 17) Sports- cover the wrestling match between Okonkwo and Almanize the Cat (Ch. 1) or the match between Maduka and his opponent (Ch. 6) Comics- create 2-3 comic strips relating to the novel.
