Personal Stories: Blakesley during the First World War *New for 2014 (half day) RAF Cosford Evacuation workshop Full day Working in groups, pupils will use primary sources and replica artefacts to investigate the personal wartime experiences of the three Merry children, whose parents lived at Blakesley Hall during World War One. They will then share their findings about each individual to the whole class and reflect on the range of experiences they have learnt about This workshop provides an opportunity for children to gain an insight into life at the start of the Second World War. Sitting in rows at wooden desks the children will complete a national registration card. When the air raid siren sounds and they hear 'bombs begin to fall', the children will be evacuated into an Anderson shelter constructed within the confines of our Education Room.
