Power Point Song Presentation 1) Choose a song that is an example of contact leading to positive or negative change. It can be a new song, an old song, any type from rap to country, but it MUST be school appropriate. Listen to the song off of the Internet prior to presenting so you know you are using the radio edit version of the song. 2) Find the lyrics to that song, either on the Internet, the CD cover, or a songbook. At this point clear the song through the teacher before you do anything else. Make sure you have the lyrics correctly written. 3) Use the lyrics as the basis for a Power Point Presentation. You will present the lyrics as they are heard through the song for all of the verses and the chorus once. Sometime during the song (perhaps the second time the chorus comes up or during a musical section, you must also explain why you chose that song and what the song means to you. 4) The pictures in the presentation must have a symbolic meaning and represent the message of the lyrics. Be sure to copy the URL of the pictures, as that has to be documented. Power Point Criteria: 1) Only the portion of lyrics which demonstrate isolation-contact-change need to be included on your slides. 2) Plan to use the slides as well as your class presentation to show the deeper meaning of the song. 3) Slides should use a combination of words, pictures, lyrics, and graphics to make the meaning of the song clear. The pictures should symbolically show the meaning of the lyrics, identifying: ISOLATION – CONTACT – CHANGE. 4) Do not use backgrounds or graphics that make it difficult to see the actual slide. 5) You must have 10-12 slides and two slides will include the contact and change explanation from the presentation sheet. 6) You will present the explanation of your song and power point to the class using the presentation sheet. 7) You will present your slide show and song to the class. You must bring the music to be played in class, so all songs must school appropriate. 8) Students will fill in class presentation sheet on each song presentation.
