WASHINGTON D.C. MAY 3 – 6, 2016 ROYHART MIDDLE SCHOOL TUESDAY, MAY 3 Depart Middleport this morning for Gettysburg, PA. En route to Gettysburg, you’ll have a lunch stop (individual’s expense) at a fast food restaurant. Following lunch, continue on to Gettysburg. Upon arrival, your first stop will be at the Museum and Visitors Center where you’ll have time to explore the museum and also view the film, “A New Birth of Freedom.” You’ll then tour the Gettysburg Battlefield, led by a National Parks Service guide. Here you’ll learn about the events that took place during the battle as well as see the town itself, where major parts of the battle were fought. You’ll have DINNER in Gettysburg before departing for your hotel in suburban Washington D.C. Check in and remain for the evening. WEDNESDAY, MAY 4 CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST at the hotel. Depart your hotel this morning for Washington D.C. Meet your guides and begin the day sightseeing including exterior tours of the Capitol Building, the White House, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress. You’ll have a CASH DOLE LUNCH ($10) around midday. Continue sightseeing this afternoon with a visit to the Washington Monument (pending confirmation). You’ll also have time for shopping around the Ford’s Theatre area. DINNER this evening followed by an illumination tour of the Vietnam Memorial; the Korean Memorial; the Lincoln, Jefferson, and Roosevelt Memorials, and the World War II Memorial. Return to your hotel and remain for the evening. THURSDAY, MAY 5 CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST at the hotel. This morning your group will travel to Arlington National Cemetery, where you will meet your guides, and view the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You will also see the Kennedy gravesites and also the Challenger memorial. Depart the cemetery for the Air Force Memorial and the National Pentagon September 11th Memorial. You’ll then travel to Pentagon City Mall, where you’ll have a CASH DOLE LUNCH ($10). Following lunch, depart for a drive up Embassy Row leading up to the Washington National Cathedral. Return to your hotel this afternoon to change. This evening, return to D.C. and enjoy a DINNER CRUISE aboard the Spirit of Washington. Return to your hotel following the cruise and remain for the evening. FRIDAY, MAY 6 CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST at the hotel. Check out and depart the hotel for the Smithsonian Museum complex. The Smithsonian buildings line the Washington Mall area, and you may visit the Natural History Museum, the Air & Space Museum, the American History Museum, or any one of the other museum buildings, all within walking distance of one another. CASH DOLE LUNCH ($10) at the museums. This afternoon, depart for Middleport. CASH DOLE DINNER ($10) en route home. Evening arrival at the school.
