The number of clubs we have provided has increased as well as the type of activities on offer. Throughout the year we have offered outdoor adventurous activities, multi-skills for KS1 and lower KS2, cheerleading, athletics, gymnastics, basketball, table tennis, cricket, football for boys in YR-Y6 and girls in KS2, cross country and netball. This has resulted in a further increase in the number of children participating. We have funded specialist coaches to work with teachers during curriculum time to improve their skill knowledge and build confidence to teach a wider variety of activities. A football coach worked with staff and children in Y3, 5 &6. The Y5 teacher attended athletics’ training course which resulted in her planning and confidently delivering athletics to Y5 during the summer term. We also had a basketball coach working with us and now run a popular basketball breakfast club. We have funded 50% of the cost of all clubs and 100% of the cost for pupil premium children throughout the year. This has resulted in a continued increase in the number of children attending clubs. (see figures above). It was a difficult year for running inter-house competitions due to the extensive building work which severely restricted the amount of playground space that we were able to use. House competitions will be a priority during the next academic year with our playground area being restored. We also plan to purchase a trophy cabinet for house trophies and other sporting shields and cups that we win. We have re-stocked our equipment to ensure that there is enough good quality equipment for all children in all activities. We held a Sports Festival for the first time instead of our usual sports days. Children took part in both competitive and fun activities during the day. We hired two inflatables, an obstacle course and a bouncing track, soft play for the younger children, disc golf and kabbadi. We also employed specialist coaches to deliver some of these activities. As a result, all children took part in physical activity for the whole day with parents able to support throughout the day. We have had some very positive feedback from parents. We continued to offer the children in Y4 that are not able to swim 25m confidently, top-up swimming lessons which involve an extra term of lessons paid for by Sports funding. We identified 9 children as being nonswimmers at the end of Y3. They are currently attending the lessons so no comment can be made about their progress at this stage. We entered a wide variety of sports competitions including: Netball league and tournament High 5 tournament Sports hall athletics- district and county final District basketball tournament Cross Country League and Championship Speed stacking - district and county final Tri-golf district competition Mini-tennis (red level) district tournament District Sports heats and finals District football league and cup and County cup We qualified for two county finals, sports hall athletics and speed stacking. Actions Consider how to increase the percentage of SEN children attending a sports club. Look at the clubs we offer Y2 and Y4 children over the year to try to increase the number of children attending a club for all three terms. Ensure there are appropriate and varied clubs for Y2 children as this year group had the lowest number of children participating in a club. Look at ways to record how many children take part in inter competitions throughout the year.
