Mission and Goals
The mission of The Houston County Career Academy is “to ensure a viable 21st century workforce for Houston
County.”
Our Goals:
 Help Houston County high schools to exceed the majority of USE benchmarks in Perkins’ accountability
measures in years 1-5 of the charter.
 Help Houston County high schools increase the number of students graduating annually who meet the
requirements of the new State Graduation Rule. From the 2010-2011 school year, the Charter School
will meet or exceed the Graduation Rate Trajectories identified by the state, beginning with 80% in
2011 and increasing 5% per year to 100% by 2015. From 2015 forward, the Charter School will
maintain 100% graduation rate for the remainder of its term. Additionally, data-driven performancebased goals for the Charter School will be incorporated in the Houston County School System
Balanced Scorecard.
 Increase the percentage of Houston County students earning post-secondary credit in career and
technical programs by 2.5% per year during the term of this Agreement.
 Increase the number of Houston County students in work-based learning programs by 2.5% per year
during the term of this Agreement.
