Rural Health West is pleased to invite rural
and remote general practitioners to the
Orthopaedic Emergencies education
workshop.
This is a practical education workshop of
common bone and joint injuries. It includes X-ray
interpretation; reduction techniques; splinting
and plastering techniques; and discussion of
necessity and timing of transfer for specialist
opinion.
The workshop content will include an overview
on the following:





systematic approach to X-ray interpretation
to avoid diagnostic pitfalls in acute limb
injuries;
recognition and assessment of acute
complications of bone and joint injuries thus
improving patient safety;
assessment and management of common
upper and lower limb bone and joint injuries;
application of upper and lower limb backslab
plasters;
assessment and management of pelvic
fractures;

assessment, clearance and X-ray
interpretation of spinal injuries; and
 approach to the X-ray interpretation of facial
fractures.
This workshop is accredited with The Royal
Australian College of General Practitioners
(RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural
and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) for continuing
professional development points and is
approved for the Rural Procedural Grants
Program. Please contact your relevant college
before attending, to ascertain your eligibility.

applicants will be sent written confirmation.
A course fee of $550.00 is required to
confirm your place in the workshop. For prereading purposes, all delegates are required
to have a copy of On Call – cost $80.00.

Cancellations received four weeks prior to the workshop will receive a full refund of workshop fee. Cancellations received fourteen (14) days prior will
